Gizmodo claims that the secret to making movies look smooth… as butter is the magical refresh rates.

Gizmodo looks at the correlation between film and the frequency at which LCD and projectors refresh them selves. Generally for computer screens the refresh rates have been a multiple of about three of the PAL systems 24 25 frames per second: 72 Hz.
Edit 1: After mixing some calculations, I accidently claimed that the PAL connection lead to refresh rate of 75 Hz. For detailed and more correct information check out PAL at WikiPedia.
When did the PAL system got 24 fps?
Oops, sorry about that. PAL has 25 frame per second. Motion film is typically shot on 24 frames pr. second.
