Printable Foldable Lense Hood

These printable and foldable lens hoods (Free, Foldable Lens Hood) have been circulating the net for the past couple days. I have been skeptical, but when Photojojo chose to run the story, I thought I would give them a try after all.

Now I believe that a lens hoods feature is to help block sun rays from causing lense flare or glare. (More about Lens hoods at Wikipedia). So these printable lens hoods should serve there purpose the question is how effective, if at all, this would be. The instructions suggest you attach it to your camera with an elastic band. I still have to find some scissors and try it on one of my lenses.

From a shallow point of view, I wonder how serious people would take a photographer who arrives with a bunch of paper attached to a lens?
