I think my “addiction” is reasonably healthy, I know I could survive on *nix machines for a couple months if I lost my OS X GUI. But nevertheless I still prefer Apple. Full stop.

There has been a bunch of similar looking phones to Apple’s iPhone since the first pictures of the iPhone were released. Chinese Meizu is the company that made me smile the most. From the pictures I have seen of Meizu M8 at Gizmodo, these phones do replicate so much of Apple’s iPhone User Interface.

The Gizmodo article talks about how iPhone copy’s or clones can be a good thing for the consumers. I presume that Meizu does not have all the legalities in place, but on the other side Apple, Microsoft and many other the big names have not all played completely fair all the time either?

Even though I had personally thought about keeping away from the iPhone hype and not purchasing one when available, I must admit that the iPhone is sweet. While visiting the States I was able to try out its interface and have some fun with it. With all its PDA features as well as just being a phone it combines my necessities in a practical format. Another friend of mine, who visited another part of the US a couple days ago, purchased an iPhone while on vacation. Now I look forward to see the success or failure of the unlocking process now required to force it to work in Norway.

SE51 have an interface that lets users test drive OS X (Mercury) online. To boot the online machine click here. My guess is that there is a lot of scripting there so be warned it may not like every browser or operating system. (It took about 4 minutes to boot the first time, so have patience.)

I had not seen the WWDC (Apple Developers Conference) keynote. But I eventually stumbled over this short-clip somewhat resembling the “Get A Mac” ads, which I started to feel were becoming old and have stopped covering their releases. This clip is called: I’m Steve Jobs.

Unable to miss iPhone launching on Friday 29th June, I have been overwhelmed with the amount of blog-posts, news and reviews about the iPhone. I feel that there has been an information overload. However it seems that Apple has created something good. AppleInsider now reports that some stores are running low on the iPhone.

I hope for Apple’s sake that this hype is not just a quick and short term one.

After Apple released a public beta of Safari for Windows on Monday. (Press Release)

Over a million copies had been downloaded during the first 48 hours. (Press Release 2).

This does seem to show that at least a couple Windows users have been hungry for an alternate to the dominance of Internet Explorer and Firefox.

(I also find it interesting that Apple displays a Yahoo! page, in their Safari on Windows XP screenshot.)

I have been slightly absent from some of the latest Apple news this past week. However I can visually register a new design to their main page: www.apple.com . It is no drastic change, and is subtle enough to avoid much critism.

At the same time an exciting Leopard offensive branding has been initiated.

My guess is that it is to advertise and inform visitors who are actually looking for iPhone info awaiting its launch June 29th.

June 5th marked 30 years since Apple’s first computer went on sale. The Apple enthusiast as I have become during the last two decades, enjoyed seeing Apple’s innovations during the years.

This past week I have been working on a production and got slightly lagged commenting on these new iPhone ads. My first impression after seeing the ads was: I want to get my hands on an iPhone. Even though I initially didn’t want one, the screen orientation and GUI (graphical user interface) looks so tasty.

Apple’s approach on these ads is somewhat distant from their iPod and iTunes ads (New iPod Shuffle ad, iPod watercolor ad). However this iPhone ad seems like a weighted approach considering their target group will not only being interested in the phone for its music abilities.
