A funny and ingenious use of 3d to portray (an imaginative?) reality. This ad for Wilkinson is constructed in the same manner as a recongnizable movie-trailer. And they have followed the “trailer” up with a site familiar to that offered by a mainstream movie. Exploring the characters, goodies, even a downloadable game. The French became a slight barrier for me (Babelfish can’t translate Flash embedded text yet?), but I it does look entertaining. See it here (flash – mov available here.)

Years ago you perhaps had casett tapes of Genesis and enjoyed their music. I did at least. A couple of months ago in one of our sound production lectures one of the examples our teacher used I beliave was this very Phil Collins song to demonstrate how (noise) Gate was applied to the percussions. From a photography and storytelling perspective I think that the creators manage to build a suspension and make the climax unexpected and at the same time fulfulling. Focus and depth of field is used actively in the beginning to establish the atmosphere and reminds me a little of on-the-fly reality zooming/focusing.

The popular TV-show crime series CSI:NY from CBS will include an investigation in Second Life in its next awaited episode, that viewers can also participate in, TechCrunch reports. I find this is a very exciting new step in the social media world, as it truly does add interactivity into a prime time TV-series.

As Hollywood, or the showbiz if you want, steps into the virtual realm of Second Life it will definitely give the virtual, other, second life of yours a very exciting and exotic opportunity to sharing in solving the mystery of this intriguing and entertaining action crime series. A two-way intergration of normally very single tracked popular tv-series will definitely cause a great deal of us previous sceptically towards Second Life and the virtual world to perhaps give it a new chance. And perhaps the actual investigation can teach you a couple things as well?

This tied in nicely with some topics from as seminar I was at today, discussing new social media trends, with several new media personalities in Norway. Amongst them Øyvind Solstad one of the guys behind NRKbeta.no talked about Second Life.

Anyway I will personally have to perhaps give Second Life a new chance, because I must admit it I think CBS has made a genius move.

I had not seen the WWDC (Apple Developers Conference) keynote. But I eventually stumbled over this short-clip somewhat resembling the “Get A Mac” ads, which I started to feel were becoming old and have stopped covering their releases. This clip is called: I’m Steve Jobs.

Are you wondering what this is? FogScreen projects an image, using a standard projector onto a screen of fog created from tap water and ultra sonic rays. Lasers attached above the screen allows a touchscreen functionality as well. Although the resolution and quality may be diminished by the nature of the fog, the FogScreen looks like it may be the advertising billboard of the future.

Whats great about YouTube is some of the old commercials that are being uploaded. A couple weeks ago I mentioned Apple 1984 Behind the Scenes, and here is one from Panasonics. Advertising their brand new Portable VCR from 1983.

Just a quick heads up that Apple just official released their Apple TV ad online, although the commercial had been aired earlier on TV before hitting the web.

In my opinion, the beat and good acting combined with simple camera shots makes this a nice and clean, catchy ad.

Adobe is officially launching Adobe Creative Suite 3 on Tuesday in New York, and CS 3 will ship later this spring. However the bundles seem to have changed since CS 2, with a new range of applications.
From what I have read there will be four categories. Design, Web, Production Premium and Master Collection. I can also mention that Photoshop is split into a regular and an Extended version.

I have had a great deal of problems with amongst others inDesigns compatability with older versions than CS2. Since I will not be able to afford CS3 for a while, I do hope they have sorted this out.

Towards the end of January I wrote about the initial UK Get A Mac Ads, since then Apple UK has added six more ads. I still don’t know if these really reach the potential of the Official US ads, but they nevertheless give a chuckle.

From the picture and some of the movies it looks like somebody muddled up chosing between 601 and RGB colors. (?) Of these new additions, I think my favorite would have to be Out of the Box. I have seen many of my friends spending endless amounts of hours waiting for the latest download updates from Windows after buying a completely new system.

This Flash based board game: Get The Glass, caught my attention. A nice combination of some cute cartoon characters and 3D special effects. It seems to be a continuation of the Got milk? campaign I first heard of a couple years back.

Loading the site and game does take some time, but it is worth the wait. I have barely played the game, as I have read that it can become addictive. The setting all takes place on the below island.
