After Apple released a public beta of Safari for Windows on Monday. (Press Release)

Over a million copies had been downloaded during the first 48 hours. (Press Release 2).

This does seem to show that at least a couple Windows users have been hungry for an alternate to the dominance of Internet Explorer and Firefox.

(I also find it interesting that Apple displays a Yahoo! page, in their Safari on Windows XP screenshot.)

If you have played in Apple’s terminal, or any other *NIX system the chances are there that you have done some piping with your commands. Remember: || … Now Yahoo! offers a service they have called Pipes: Allowing you to pipe various commands and services together. 

   
I really like the direction this service seems to be taking, and will be following its success. TechCrunch has more: Yahoo! Launches Pipes. Pipes worked well in FireFox, but almost choked up Internet Explorer completely.

Among some of the hundred feeds I have been quickly skimming I was going to just mention partly for my own benefit that Walmart was now hitting the Online Movie market. Then listening to the radio I just recently heard that Amazon is partnering with TiVo to provide online content directly to your TiVo. And now TechCrunch has some more on the whole story: Amazon Partners With Tivo; Steals Walmart’s Thunder.

I think all of these online services will be healthy competition for iTMS in addition regarding my post: Domino effect for Apple’s iTMS? & Ad and iTMS Movies – Apple Follow-Ups, I think that it all proves that people are sincerely wanting the possisiblity to be able to buy movies online rather than download pirated material.

After writing this I just recently read Wayne’s post on the matter: Amazon and TiVo partner on video.

Via DownloadSquad I am happy to tell you about Hey!Watch. Hey!Watch gives you the possibility to convert videos online. Best of all, you don’t have to pay for those expensive video conversion programs. In my case, I am seldomly rooted at the same physical computer long enough to install applications locally (Read: Your Minis Your Online Desktop), so I appreciate online applications even more.

I have yet to priorise enough time to properly check out this service myself, and I am sceptical to the quality of some of their conversions. However I do definitely think that they have the potential to provide rather good quality conversions. And it will defintitely be good enough for private consumers. (Certain codecs for encoding can be rather pricy and others are equally time costly.)

Well regarding my post Free SoftwareFor the New Year, where I initially read the screenshot: Software for Starving Students, as being some sort of cookbook. Well it was actually a bundle of other free software. But, MyDreamApp which featured a competition to develop your dream application, is making progress.

I woke up to Apple’s latest commercial for their Macs: Get A Mac – Sabotage. Apparently a PC or some similar “guy”, acts as if he is a “Mac”, and tries to dispute the good Apple statistics. Then the real Mac comes in. My question remains, in what ways is this really sabotage.

WikiSeek a search engine that searches Wiki articles as well other web sites that link to WikiPedia. I am really uncertain of the practicality of this service. But it is a feature that I am sure could serve some educational purposes as well.

Their pages is definitely richly decorated with adwords. Regarding adwords, I am not sure about all of WikiSeek’s results quite yet, since I had more correct hits on some of my searches appearing in the ads, that in the real search results.

The first shots were fired yesterday (Wednesday Jan. 10th 2007) after peace talk negotiations for the last five years failed. This came as a shock to the apparent peaceful response from Cisco that I briefly mentioned at the end of Apple iPhone-d Us After All… .
I went to bed yesterday, with a peace of mind that the war was avoided. Then I was rudely awoken to the news that Cisco had filed a trademark infringement lawsuit.

Cisco’s Strategy: Attack when you are least expecting it. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Apple enthusiasts were emotionally high and overjoyed by the good news about the iPhone. Then Cisco pulled away the very ground they were standing on, the fact that the so endeared name will cause controversy into the finite future.

Apple Inc. (formerly Apple Computers Inc. until Tuesday) has been fighting the trademark war with Apple Corps Ltd. for years, with substantial monetary losses on both sides of the gunfire.

New York Times covered the story more detailed also interviewing Apple’s vice president for worldwide communications, Katie Cotton and Mark Chandler, Cisco’s general counsel. Yahoo! also has some good coverage.

The greatest surprise to me, they even called it iPhone, though I have yet to see it officially without the Apple logo in front. How does this affect all the trademarks that LinkSys/Cisco acquired? (Hoping Apple Doesn’t iPhone  and  iPhone is Not Apple’s iPhone)

 
So it looks really, cool, and I actually do think, that the shear “coolness” factor will sell some iPhones, but at the same time it looks too fragile. I expect to see people scratching up half the screen the first time that slim Apple iPhone body slips out their hands.

On the other hand I don’t think your nor I, would mind giving the iPhone a test drive. (Rumors have it we can’t be expecting the phone before at least Q4 in Europe,
